“Passionate and committed clients push us to do our best work.”
A founding partner and Partner In Charge of Architecture, Dick works with project teams to guide design, technical, and management functions to ensure that the client’s objectives are realized. He brings over 30 years of experience practicing architecture within the areas of education, office, medical, and interiors.
Under Dick’s leadership, LCM’s architectural practice has evolved with a considerable concentration on learning environments. As a former elementary school teacher, he has always been interested in pedagogy, learning modes, and how space design supports emerging trends in education. His academic, laboratory, and research projects focus on emerging paradigms in the profession, including universal design, peer-to-peer learning, and sustainable design.
Dick’s work has received numerous design awards. He integrates the firm’s accessibility specialty in the design and building process, changing lives and breaking new ground by signaling that spaces can be objects of good design that also are inclusive of a broader, often marginalized, group of people. He is a frequent presenter on the topics of universal and sustainable design.
