“Clients rely on us to tell them what is and is not compliant. We show them how, why, and when to remove accessibility barriers, even in the most challenging conditions.”
Lupe’s experience with accessibility regulations in school improvements led her to LCM in 2014. An Accessibility Specialist with more than 15 years of practical experience and a background in art history and architecture, she primarily serves LCM’s hospitality and tourism clients.
Lupe is a global travel enthusiast, whose plentiful passport stamps are the envy of LCM colleagues. On work assignments for international hotel groups and a cruise line she has visited such destinations as Hawaii, Australia, Mexico, and Spain. Observing wide discrepancies in accessibility standards and compliance throughout the world, she ideally would like to see a universal design approach adopted globally to ensure that anyone – with or without a disability – would be able to use any space anywhere in the world.
For Lupe, project challenges are an opportunity to learn and to educate others on the intricacies of accessibility compliance. By practicing the ‘three Rs’ – responsive, responsible, and reliable – she has earned her role as a trusted resource who gives clients the information needed to make decisions that benefit both their business and their consumers.
