LCM re-imagined the lobby as a light-filled Welcome Center with defined waiting areas and efficient circulation.
LCM was approached by the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago to transform their dated lobby into a more welcoming space for patients. Built in 1975, the previous lobby lacked separation and definition of uses, despite having a uniform appearance. As the primary entry point to major office suites and treatment facilities, the lobby also served as the main waiting area for patients. To address these issues, LCM re-imagined the lobby as a light-filled Welcome Center with defined waiting areas and efficient circulation. By utilizing glass walls, lighting systems, and new seating, LCM created discreet areas within the lobby while facilitating circulation patterns. Patient intake is now the focus of the major waiting areas, which open to the Welcome Center through a glass wall. The bright and colorful finishes and furnishings add to the feeling of light and openness, with a variety of seating options carefully selected to accommodate all patients and family groups.
