The University has taken an impressive stance in its commitment to bringing a high level of accessibility to campus, including its student housing.
LCM evaluated University of Chicago student housing buildings to determine how it would be feasible to provide a variety of accessible unit types in various locations around campus. Properties range from three-story apartment buildings to 80-unit buildings that were originally hotels. We designed the necessary alterations and provided oversight during the construction of 39 apartment units in six buildings. Units include a mix of studio and one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Modifications improved the accessible path of travel into and through the building and common areas.
