The University has taken an impressive stance in its commitment to bringing a high level of accessibility to campus, including its student housing.
LCM evaluated residential buildings, ranging from 3-story apartment buildings to 80-unit buildings that were originally hotels, to determine where it would be feasible to provide accessible units of a variety of types and locations around campus. We designed the necessary alterations and provided oversight during construction of 39 apartment units in six buildings. Units were a mix of studio and one, two and three-bedroom units. Additional modifications were made to improve the accessible path of travel into and through the building and common areas.
