For many years LCM has provided ADA compliance guidance to help Northwestern Medicine make its facilities more accessible.

LCM led a comprehensive evaluation of Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s facilities, policies, and equipment as they affect people with disabilities. We surveyed over 50 diagnostic, treatment, and clinic spaces supporting the hospital’s various medical disciplines. We also surveyed common areas and patient rooms. Surveys assessed compliance with the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and the U.S. Access Board’s proposed Standards for Medical Diagnostic Equipment. A detailed report documented findings and recommended modifications to achieve compliance.

Northwestern Medicine also calls on LCM to review plans for new construction and the renovation of existing spaces to provide compliance with federal, state, and city accessibility standards. We review drawings at various stages, from concept design through construction documents. To verify that spaces are built according to compliant plans LCM conducts site reviews during and after construction. Facilities range from neighborhood Immediate Care, Primary Care, and Imaging Clinics to a major campus revitalization of Lake Forest Hospital.
