Barrier Removal Plan

LCM evaluated the accessibility compliance of exterior routes and 48 facilities on Lehigh’s Asa Parker, Goodman, and Mountaintop campuses as well as two other sites. Our assessment was based on ADA Title III, 1991 and 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, and also considered program access requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

In addition to walkways on the 150-year-old campus, we evaluated parking, classroom and lecture centers, laboratories, student residences, and athletic facilities. The age of the majority of buildings, as well as the University’s challenging hillside topography, called for LCM’s expert interpretation of multiple accessibility standards and thoughtful application to the unique campus conditions. A detailed, illustrated report identified noncompliant elements and recommended modifications. We prioritized recommendations to help the University understand and plan for the removal of program and physical barriers over time.
