LCM’s design for their new cyber-security program captures much-needed space by enclosing the entire ground floor, open air surface parking area of Julian Hall. A redesigned entry vestibule links to the new spaces, providing a distinctive identity that reflects the innovative programs within.

Illinois State University’s School of Information Technology is designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. By renovating Julian Hall, the University is preparing Information Technology students for the high-demand cyber-security profession.

LCM’s design for their new cyber-security program captures much-needed space by enclosing the entire ground floor, open air surface parking area of Julian Hall. The plan builds out space at the building’s north end for classrooms and collaboration rooms. A glass-enclosed expansion along the west elevation houses a lounge. Linked to the new spaces is a redesigned entry vestibule, providing a distinctive identity for the cyber-security program. Flexible, newly created spaces are unified by a neutral color palette and elements inspired by a computer switchboard.
