CPS has relied on LCM since 1996 to interpret and apply ADA requirements to hundreds of new construction and alteration projects.
LCM has contributed significantly to making Chicago Public Schools facilities and programs more accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. From accessibility consultant in the first phase of a major Capital Improvement Program, we continued as ADA Program Managing Architect, ADA Design Manager for multiple Managing Architect teams, and Accessibility Technical Support Specialist for Program Managers.
Our work for new construction, additions, and alterations has included: manage ADA projects from design through construction; review architect-of-record drawings to ensure ADA and local accessibility code compliance; coordinate architect-of-record transfer packages; field oversight and construction review; identify product issues and suggest solutions; and provide technical assistance and training for architects, construction managers, general contractors, staff, facility managers, and design/program managers.
CPS has also called on LCM to design and implement architectural modifications to remove accessibility barriers and to provide universal design consulting services for a new elementary school that has a large population of students with physical and developmental disabilities.
