LCM proudly congratulates Joyce Vela on her recent appointment to Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s Board of Directors.

Joyce is an architect at LCM, with over 12 years of experience on multifamily residential, educational, mixed-use, and commercial projects. As the newest board member to this volunteer position, Joyce said that she is “…really excited about meeting like-minded people from diverse backgrounds and forming relationships, not only with community members, but with the other board members as well.”

Along with participating in annual events like Women Build and assisting in fundraising, Joyce is very excited to be involved in furthering the relationship with Habitat for Humanity Malawi, which is a global tithe partner. She believes that “it doesn’t matter how good your intentions are; you have to understand the people and communities in order to bring about lasting, effective change.”

Habitat for Humanity Chicago works towards building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live.
