In addition to consulting on the requirements of accessibility codes and standards, LCM has designed and consulted on projects that included universal design. Understanding universal design to be a framework for the design of the physical environment, products and communications that considers the widest range of people, LCM has employed such principals to benefit people who have been marginalized by traditional design, including children, seniors and people with disabilities.

By following the principals of universal design, spaces are created that do not segregate some or prevent others from using them independently. As supporters of universal design we seek to form spaces that meet high aesthetic standards with the goal of eliminating the stereotype that accessibility creates places that are isolated, costly and unattractive.
