Doug Mohnke is one of the three founding partners of LCM. With over 40 years of experience, his background includes work in the areas of architecture, planning and urban design. Doug’s experience ranges from master planning multi-acre sites to leading design teams on corporate office, educational and health care facilities. Doug is also an integral part of the firm’s accessibility consulting group.

Doug led the design efforts for the Access Living Headquarters building. By blending his experience with corporate office design and his knowledge of accessibility standards, the building was planned and designed while applying the principles of Universal Design. The building received LEED Gold certification and was the recipient of five design awards including The Richard Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design. Most recently Doug is involved with the design for the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Since the formation of LCM in 1996, much of Doug’s time has focused on area of accessibility consulting. His knowledge and experience in working with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Act (FHA) has enabled him to contribute in numerous ways, including preparation of accessibility survey checklists; performing site inspection; preparing assessment reports; reviewing architectural plans for compliance; performing new construction inspections; and consulting on barrier removal options. Since 2005, Doug has performed over 150 FHA and ADA site inspections and continues to provide consulting services for attorneys, developers, building owners and architects.
Doug is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a former member of the Evanston Preservation Commission.
