UIC Behavioral Neurobiology Labs

UIC RSBN Laboratory A

The Department of Psychiatry at the UIC includes many cross-disciplinary researchers, a number of whom focus on the interface between human emotions and biological markers. This type of research, behavioral neurobiology, demands an unusual set of research spaces.

LCM’s design included 12 acoustically isolated test rooms for use with human subjects, including both an RF shielded room and one acoustic chamber. Control rooms for test equipment were interspersed between the test rooms. A separate hallway provides access to the testing areas from an intake room to maintain privacy. Other spaces include a phlebotomy lab; five biology laboratories; procedure and testing area for animal subjects within the clean side of a pre-existing vivarium along with conferencing and other support spaces.
