CDOT Curb Ramp Program

In 2006 the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) asked LCM to address accessibility concerns regarding curb ramps throughout the City. LCM assessed existing conditions, helped prioritized efforts for barrier removal that were implemented through a five-year capital improvement plan. LCM worked with a citizens’ advisory committee to train CDOT personnel and its engineering consultants on design practices.

LCM continues to work with CDOT to review construction plans for sidewalks, curb ramps and other elements.  LCM has also been part of the proposed pilot project for accessible pedestrian signals to assist people with visual impairments at intersection crossings.
